Artwork explanation

“Myth” has represented the life of human in an antiquarian era and during the middle ages. The alteration and differences of the myths in different nations resembles the change of lifestyle, socialstructures, relations, principles, knowledge, and thoughts
of men during time.

“Myth,” in fact, indicates the evolution of a human mind; a collection of narrations about conflicts of human and nature! Many of the myths indicate psychological layers (of humans) that have formed during their lifetime, becoming an architype, living in the collective unconscious of people, and transformed and manifested in life occurrences. Like the myths, architypes have been the subject of many artworks, discussed through different approaches by many artists

Expert Opinion

Niloufar Ghaderinejad, who has experienced war and social transitions, has previously worked with concerns and behaviors of people suffering from such crises. She, in the recent years, looks at humans from a more general perspective. She has considered the affection and/or relationship of a human in contact with himself/herself as the main theme of her recent works.

In “The Shadow Inside,” which is accordance with Jung theory of “shadow,” she has adopted the myth motifs and paints the figures of human and the animal with (in) each other.

In most of the works of this collection, shadow, which as Jung states, is the dark, animal, immoral and yet creative and desiring side of a human, is manifested with expressive lines and variety of bright colors in the form of a shadow itself, accompanied by different animals and mythical
motifs of fictional animals.

The tendency to escape from the familiar figurative faces and moving towards expressive lines and abstraction in the form, are results of the shadow inside. Everything that is inside us all, and yet we are not aware of it at all.
