The director of the CAMA Gallery believes that art should be more visible at the community level and communicate with the general public is not the responsibility of the artist, it is the role of the gallery and cultural operators who are working on introducing artists' art.
According to the Shabestan News Agency: the association of a community with visual arts and enjoying artistic expression in social communication is a topic that has been considered in the world for decades. Familiarising people with the history of art, expanding the museums' general activities, enhancing arts and artistic activities in cities, and holding biennials and exhibitions is one of the actions that today emphasizes the enjoyment of art to the benefit of society. Our country has also witnessed an increase in the number of artistic galleries in the past years, a greater presence of artists in international exhibitions and auctions, and more attention to the art of urban management. However, visual arts are still not a matter for the general public, with an exception in the small population in the centre of metropolises that they are particularly interested in art, nor are they aware of its developments. To discuss this issue and the questions, we sat in a conversation with the painter and director of the CAMA Gallery, Mona Khosheghbal.
How can an artist create a work that communicates with the public, reaches houses, and reaches out to the level of the community from the special galleries?
The fact that galleries should be more known and seen at the community level and more connected with the general public is certainly not the task of the artist, it is precisely the task of cultural and governmental practitioners.
Have media, art galleries, and art dealers been able to strive for more visual artwork amongst the community?
Of course, gallery work is a hard job, especially when there is no governmental support and no subsidy is considered, the private sector can hardly boost this trend alone. In these years, we have been running a steady trend with the efforts of the private sectors, today, we are more or less in the process of introducing and selling artworks.
How have the art trustee institutions been able to influence the generalization of art?
During these years, we have witnessed such efforts as expeditions, biennials, symposiums, etc, but they have never been coherent, and they have not been continuous, the cross-sectional movement can never be a world-wide influence. Of course, if each of the cultural and artistic movements, are coherent and organized and not implemented in a cross-sectional way, we will achieve the supreme goal of familiarizing the community with the artwork.
How much can galleries make to the art economy in the current market situation?
Buying and selling artwork is one of the most important businesses all over the world, because the return of capital with value added is accompanied by tax exemptions and strict customs rules for art, which is why other reasons, the description of which is very specialized and detailed, is the most exclusive factor To attract capital through galleries to the art and artwork of artists, there is no doubt that the creation of creative and exquisite artistic exhibitions with new and new words can greatly influence the audience's attraction.
