My Heech (Nothing) is nothing but the word of Heech (Nothing), which does not carry any specific meaning, it is just a word. An artwork, which according to its popularity, has been emptied from the actual meaning of its name. The meaning for anything distinguished, should be less considered. In my opinion, audiences better to observe its form, which is shaping by Nastaliq Scripts. There is no necessity for this beauty to be interpreted, but the artwork must express itself. I like the visual personality of Heech, but if you insist, I must say that Heech (Nothing) in the history of Sufism and mysticism, has a deep story; a non-existence which all existence could be heard from it. Tanavoli, about his pop art artworks, says: the concepts that I have chosen are folk. For an instance, even, I have chosen the folk colours. All colours that have been used are raw colours, coming out from the cans and are not mixed with other colours. I have selected 6 main colours. This artist emphasizes: I still say, that my “Heech” has nothing to do with absurdism.
“Parviz Tanavoli, sculptor, has the blessing of self-knowledge, a blessing, which not everyone owns it. The story of his inspirations is rooted in ancient Persian anecdotes. Sculpture in Iran, have been abandoned for centuries and replaced by decorative arts, such as carpet weaving, gypsum, tile and so on. These artworks, although are extremely delicate, could not be replaced with sculpture. The Iranian Parviz has filled this thousand years of gap.”
