Mr. Nedaei is a professional artist, with almost 40 years of background. He is an energetic, active and open-minded painter. His last exhibition, held in 2016, was a successful exhibition with 23 artworks. Although all his artworks were sold out in the mentioned exhibition, his curator managed to convince him not to paint in his regular style, but to draw. His curator believes he is one of the 3 best drawing masters in Iran. His suggestion was to draw in a sublime and glamorous way on a coloured card boards with silver or gold ink.
This artwork is one of the pieces in his drawing collection. Despite his regular artworks are in small pieces in size, for this collection, he wisely moved to another stage. This artwork has been drawn on a large canvas, which gives him more space and freedom to conduct pieces into higher quality, spontaneity and glamour but with the same craftsmanship and sensuality.
As this artwork suggests, Ali Nedaei is a master in presenting mythological and classical themes in a modern and dynamic way with eye catching craftsmanship.
“In today’s expression, myth is a word carrying a kind of message. Myth is a kind of relation; it is not an idea nor an object. In fact, everything in our time is a myth and could carry a broader concept than its basic concept, in the form of visual or traditional and a set of signs and symptoms appearing in the painting.
In this artwork, the artist’s attempt is to present a new approach of the myths in Shahnameh, exposed to the audience, in which, as regards the narrative, he has not been loyal to the theme of Shahnameh. The artist, freely, has presented the horse as an independent sign.
The artist’s loyalty to the realistic and romantic form, presents human as his most significant subject, which shows that his artistic concern is human and history. He is less concerned with the theoretical system in art and is more interested in his freely narrative painting. The main theme of this artwork is a dependency on Iranian ancient myths.
The artist, to create his artwork, brings several styles together, which despite having relation with human’s history, contain modernity and modern culture. Nedaei believes that humans in our time are having a common background and identity with humans in the history and using several styles in his artwork is a sign of his belief.
Nedaei in this artwork, serves the horse’s mythical character in a specific scene to form the tragedy of the hero. This tragedy is a witness to the vastness of civilisation history and the dynamic wavy lines, extend freedom in the artist’s staging.”
