Hooman Mehrdana was born in 1980 in Tehran, Iran. He holds a math diploma and bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from the Faculty of Arts and Architecture from Tehran University. In 2001, he began his professional career in portraiture and industrial photography. After gaining his bachelor’s degree he moved to Armenia and entered Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan, and he began playing the Flute in 2004. He left music in 2006 and returned to Iran, and started his artistic career in the cinema industry by making short films, documentaries, and filming short movies. Mehrdana has collaborated in producing documentaries with BBC Persian and NBC Channels.
His activities include the writing of several screenplays and television scripts, technical advice on the artistic design of television and theatre productions, and designing tile sequence. He also has artistic side activities such as the restoration of antiques.
Hooman Mehrdana ended his career in cinema, in 2011 due to the career ban and began his professional career in painting. He has been teaching art aesthetics and philosophy of art since the year 2014 and holding specialised painting workshops. In 2014, Mehrdana held his first solo exhibition by Mona Khosheghbal in Viona Gallery.
