Missing Roots

Sepideh Ashrafi - solo exhibition (15 February - 20 February)

Statement

Phoenix of words and music of colours. The Persian pattern and lines lead us to the deep thoughts, beauty and charm of the letters and the flight of colours towards life, to live well and shine. In the wake of the artist’s struggle, slowness and dexterity makes her path distinct and pleasant, increases the number of her artworks’ viewers and makes them more hopeful. Picasso has said: “I wish I were born in China or Iran, that whatever I portrayed or wrote was poetry”. Sharon French also said: “There are no alphabets in the world that are more beautiful than the Persian alphabet”. From ancient times Iranian artists have long sought to complete, praise and glorify the letters and beauty of its body, and what a great treasure of art they left for us. Our artist friend, Anita Ashrafi, with enthusiasm, attempt, and understanding of the basics of visual arts, like the sun, splits the crust of repeated clouds around her and goes to the colour, wool, dance and rhythm of valuable Persian carpet, and harmoniously, it has been harmonized with the lines and forms of the music of carpet, and she created a feminine work by all means. Occasionally, the letters are submerged with warp and wool of, and sometimes beautiful woven fabrics are fascinated by the curvature of written lines that are left out of meaning and sometimes accompanied by the definition of those woven materials. Mrs. Ashrafi, through the light of wisdom, art, good ethics, politeness and consultation with the masters of art paces along the path, and will never miss direction in the meandrous path of art, and she is secure to create with love and spiritual and caresses the fastidious eyes of her enthusiasts. She will not be tired of revelation in her creations. This exhibition is her first and most robust and strongest step. Esrafil Shirchi February 2019
