Ebrahim Faraji

Ebrahim Faraji

Ebrahim Faraji (1940-2004) graduated from the School of Dramatic Arts with a degree in cinematography. He attended free courses to learn painting and experienced his first solo exhibition at the same university in 1965. He participated in many group exhibitions held in galleries such as Takht-e Jamshid, Niazi and Sheikh. In 1971, he held an exhibition in Seihoun gallery and two years later in Sullivan gallery. His paintings exhibited in two group exhibitions at Niazi gallery during 2000s. There are numerous styles appearing in Faraji’s paintings. His activities on the painting is minimised and the brushstrokes alongside colours present the tendencies towards post-impressionism.

After the revolution in Iran, he turned to government jobs more than working in art. He was the director of the Kamal-ol Molk vocational school for 15 years. Moreover, he was working as an expert in the field of art and vocational schools in the ministry of culture and guidance. However, he must be considered as a silent figure in the visual arts, as after he passed away his memories also have been forgotten.

Ebrahim Faraji died in 2004, at the age of 66.
